For those of you not looking forward to conversing with the "Righteous Right" during Thanksgiving, 236.com has taken it upon themselves to make sure you enter Thanksgiving equipped with a list of comebacks sure to put Obama haters back in their place. For example:
- The "socialist" takeover of America's banks happened on Bush's watch.
- The "Democratic" Senate has been working with a one vote majority, and that vote is Joe Lieberman. If they get to the "Magic 60," that sixtieth vote is still Joe Lieberman.
- The majority of rich Americans voted to have their wealth spread.
My "Righteous Right" brother kept his mouth shut. Although I should be nice and mention that he voted NO on amendment 2. We only had family, so we didn't discuss politics or religion. It was a peaceful day. I hope yours was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love it. Since both of our families are mostly Obama haters this list comes in handy. My favorite is "Cheer up, the GOP still owns the 'racist belt!'"
ReplyDeleteSo true, So true. What does that say about the Republican agenda?
@LeftLeaningLady - The conduct is a little different with us. When we are in Canada, with my side of the family, politics and religion are never discussed. Here in Germany, with hubby's side of the family, politics and religion are discussed ad infinitum. Even though everyone has their own view, it never gets personal. I count myself as lucky in that respect.
ReplyDelete@ModernMommy - Did you end up using the list?
My righteous right family members somehow completely ignore these facts. It's funny, they say that people living in Europe, including myself, know a lot more about what's going on in the world than Americans do, then they turn around and tell me that I really don't have any idea about what's going on in the world and that they do. Huh?
ReplyDeleteBut politics didn't turn up on Thanksgiving, we had plenty of family drama to tide the drama queens over.
@ Christina - Ah, yes. The map-of-righteous-right-realisation. At first, they are surprised and/or impressed with your ability to pull issues into a new light for them, therefore they acknowledge your insight positively. Then, inevitably, comes the realisation that the conclusion of your insight goes against their world view. Hence their correction in their initial credit to you. Funny isn't it?
